Children's Harbor
Children's Harbor at Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama is a sponsor for more than 30 illness-related camps each year. It offers many ways for children with chronic illnesses and their families to come together and reconnect in a beautiful outdoor setting. There are camps each year for many different illnesses and diagnoses, such as cancer, hemophilia, spinal injury, heart disease, and autism. They also hold a Transitions Camp each year, which aligns perfectly with our lab's mission. Our graduate students are looking forward to volunteering at some of these camps over the summer! Cincinnati Children's Hospital Center for Adherence Promotion and Self-Management
The Center for Adherence Promotion and Self-Management at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is the first and only center of its kind dedicated to research, clinical service, and training in adherence among a wide variety of pediatric populations. Dr. Gray trained in this Center as a psychology resident and a post-doctoral fellow. She continues to maintain collaborations with the Center, particularly with Dr. Kevin Hommel, and the patients, families, and providers in the Schubert Martin Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, to develop the Self-Management Transition Enhancement Program.
Society of Pediatric Psychology
The Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) is a professional chapter of the American Psychological Association (APA Division 54). This chapter is solely dedicated to the advancement of the field of pediatric psychology. Opportunities to become involved in SPP exist at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional level. Students are especially encouraged to join any Special Interest Group (SIG) that they find appealing. Dr. Gray is a co-founder and current co-chair of the Adherence SIG and is a member of the Adolescent/Young Adult SIG. She also chairs the Dissemination Committee as part of her involvement in the Diversity SIG and commitment to advancing diversity issues in pediatric psychology.
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America
The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the treatment and quality of life of patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. In addition to providing support for cutting edge research and innovative studies, such as the Self-Management Transition Enhancement Program, CCFA engages in programming and outreach via their local chapters throughout the United States. Notable CCFA events and activities include the Take Steps Walkathon and Camp Oasis, a free weeklong camp for youth with Crohn's and colitis.
